Who We Are
Buddha Forest Meditation Centre (붓다선원) is not a typical temple. Established in 2013, we are a community dedicated to the original teachings of the Buddha as preserved in the Pali Canon.
While Korea is famous for its Ganhwa Seon (Koan) tradition, our center follows the Theravada tradition of Early Buddhism. We interpret the Dhamma through the systematic teachings of the Pa-Auk Sayadaw lineage of Myanmar.
Our community is guided by Jin Kyeong Sunim, who dedicated over a decade to intensive training in Myanmar. Upon returning to Korea, she founded this center to share the direct path to liberation, teaching exactly as it is found in the Pali Canon. Under her guidance, Bhikkhunis (nuns), lay practitioners, and international volunteers live together in harmony, protected by the rules of Noble Silence.
Our mission is simple but profound: to provide a space where Bhikkhunis (nuns), lay practitioners, and international seekers can cultivate the Threefold Training:
Sila: Morality and ethical living.
Samadhi: Deep concentration (Jhana) through Anapanasati.
Panna: Liberating wisdom through Vipassana.
