Dosol Seonbang (The Meditation Hall)

The heart of Buddha Forest is the Dosol Seonbang. Perched high on the slope with a view of the Deogyusan mountains, this hall is built for one purpose: silence.

Inside, the space is open and unadorned, free from visual distractions. The wooden floor and high ceilings create an atmosphere of spaciousness, allowing the mind to settle naturally. Whether in the crisp cold of winter or the humid heat of summer, the hall remains a cool, quiet refuge for sitting practice.

Gongjondang (Community Living)

The Gongjondang is our main building, housing the kitchen, dining area, and dormitory rooms.

In keeping with monastic tradition, accommodation here is communal and simple.

• Dormitories: Visitors typically stay in shared rooms (separated by gender). Sleeping is done on the heated floor (Ondol) in the traditional Korean style, which keeps the body warm and grounded.

• Simplicity: We do not offer private luxury suites. Living together teaches us consideration, patience, and how to harmonize with others—an essential part of the practice.

The Kutis (Forest Huts)

Scattered along the forest edge are several small Kutis (individual huts). These are reserved for long-term monastics or practitioners undertaking intensive solitary retreats. Small and isolated, a Kuti provides the perfect container for those ready to face their own mind without any escape.

The Organic Gardens & Orchard

Our facilities extend beyond the buildings. We manage a large organic apple orchard and vegetable gardens that supply the kitchen.

These gardens are not just a food source; they are our "outdoor meditation hall." Working here—pruning trees, harvesting peppers, or turning the soil—connects us to the cycle of nature. The food you eat here is vibrant and pure, grown with the energy of mindfulness.

Walking Paths

Surrounding the center are forest trails that wind through the pine trees and rocks. These paths are maintained for Walking Meditation. In the fresh mountain air at 720 meters altitude, walking becomes a way to invigorate the body while keeping the mind centered.
